Our History

The vision for Tumaini for the Needy began long before the organization was formally established.

 

As a servant of God and church leader, our Founder regularly encountered vulnerable children, widows, and struggling families seeking assistance. Whenever possible, he personally provided food, school support, counselling, prayer, and encouragement.

 

One life-changing encounter with an orphaned young woman and her elderly grandmother became the turning point. Despite living in extreme poverty, the grandmother struggled daily to raise her orphaned grandchildren through income earned from selling vegetables.

 

After receiving prayer, mentorship, and continued encouragement through the church, the young woman experienced remarkable personal transformation. Recognizing her potential, the founder felt called to invest in her education despite having very limited resources.

 

Through the support of friends and well-wishers, she completed university and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Development. Today she serves as one of our teachers, mentoring and educating vulnerable children within the organization.

 

Her journey became living proof that one opportunity can change a life, a family, and an entire community.

 

Inspired by this transformation, Tumaini for the Needy was established to extend the same hope to many more vulnerable people.

 

Since then, the organization has continued to grow through volunteer service, partnerships with churches and local leaders, and the generosity of individuals who share our vision.

Our work focuses on holistic community transformation through the following programs:

 

Education Sponsorship

 

Supporting vulnerable children through school fees, uniforms, learning materials, mentorship, and educational guidance.

 

Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre

Two years ago, Tumaini for the Needy established an Early Childhood Development Centre to provide quality early learning in a safe, nurturing, and values-based environment. The centre is staffed by two qualified teachers and continues to serve young children from vulnerable households.

 

Food Security and Nutrition

 

Providing food assistance to widows, vulnerable families, and children experiencing food insecurity.

 

Clothing Distribution

 

Supplying clothing and other essential items to vulnerable households.

 

Widow Support Programme

 

Providing spiritual encouragement, counselling, fellowship, meals, and food assistance while promoting dignity and social inclusion.

 

Street Children Outreach

 

Organizing regular outreach activities that provide meals, counselling, mentorship, and opportunities for social reintegration.

 

Counselling and Mentorship.

 

Offering emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to children, youth, widows, and families facing difficult circumstances.

 

Emergency Assistance

 

Responding to urgent humanitarian needs affecting vulnerable individuals and families within the community


Baptisms

Our Events

We believe baptism is a vital step of obedience and a public declaration of faith, symbolizing new life and transformation in Christ. Through our baptism services, we celebrate individuals publicly committing their lives to God and joining a supportive community of faith. We provide pre-baptism counseling, guidance, and spiritual support to help every candidate understand the significance of this sacred step.

We celebrate the dedication, spiritual growth, and academic achievement of our ministry leaders and servants of God as they complete their theological training. Our clergy graduation ceremonies mark a pivotal milestone, commissioning well-prepared leaders equipped with biblical knowledge, pastoral wisdom, and a heart for community service. Through prayer, mentorship, and the laying on of hands, we send forth these graduates to serve congregations, guide families, and bring transformative impact to the world.
